Home Sales in West Linn, January through April 2010

Ron Ares May 12th, 2010

Reader Karen sends a note asking for an update on monthly home sales for the year to date, compared to years past. Happy to oblige, Karen!

We’re roughly looking at sales volume equal to that of the 1st four months of 2008, but nothing close to the peak 2007 pace. March and April are definitely trending up due to tax incentives, and May will likely fare well, too. The rest of the year….we’ll see.

I’ll try to follow up with a more comprehensive study on year to date pricing.

Just in case anyone missed it today:

Sales of new homes collapsed in May, sinking 33 percent to the lowest level on record as potential buyers stopped shopping for homes once they could no longer receive government tax credits.

The median sales price in May was $200,900. That was down 9.6 percent from a year earlier and down 1 percent from April.
